Los Angeles plastic surgeon Geoffrey Keyes, M.D. is the new President of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF).

Los Angeles plastic surgeon Geoffrey Keyes, M.D. is the new President of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). The Foundation is the research arm of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). ASERF research helps to ensure the safety and effectiveness of new aesthetic (cosmetic) plastic surgical techniques and technologies by funding scientific research and clinical studies.

Dr. Keyes was born in Youngstown, OH and is currently in private practice in at The Keyes Surgery Center in Los Angeles, CA. He is a graduate of the Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine, and interned at Barnes Hospital-Washington University in St. Louis, MS. He served in two residency training programs at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. In addition he holds the distinction of being board certified in two medical specialties: Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology -- Head & Neck Surgery. Dr. Keyes is an active member of ASERF, ASAPS, and multiple other plastic surgery organizations.

He is also currently the President of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the Vice President-Elect of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Dr. Keyes helped develop the first internet relational database for quality assurance and peer review which has produced the largest studies on outpatient surgical care ever published, and he is helping ASERF to form the Research Alliance to facilitate research in the area of plastic surgery.

President-Elect: V. Leroy Young, MD of St. Louis, MO, is currently in private aesthetic surgery practice at the BodyAesthetic Plastic Surgery & Skincare Center and founded the BodyAesthetic Research Center, which conducts clinical trials related to plastic surgery. Twice a year he co-chairs the Hot Topics Seminars at the national meetings of ASAPS and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Young is the recipient of the Foundation's Distinguished Service Award, and has twice received the "Award of Excellence for Best Article" published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal. A book edited by Dr. Young, titled Patient Safety in Plastic Surgery, was published by QMP in 2009.

Vice President: Joseph M. Gryskiewicz, MD of Burnsville, MN, is in private practice at the Gryskiewicz Twin Cities Cosmetic Surgery with offices in Edina and Burnsville. He has practiced medicine in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul for more than 20 years and is a Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota Cleft Palate Clinics School Of Dentistry and is past Chief of Surgery at Fairview Southdale Hospital. Dr. Gryskiewicz is a moderator for the Hot Topics in Plastic Surgery symposia at the annual meetings of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Treasurer: Al Aly, MD of Coralville, IA, is a clinical professor of plastic surgery and is considered an authority in the field of body contouring. His career began with expertise in facial aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery, and has expanded to the exciting field of body contouring. He has taught and put together multitudes of conferences and courses for other plastic surgeons. He has lectured and/or performed surgical demonstrations in more than 20 countries. Dr. Aly published the first textbook on "Body Contouring After Massive Weight Loss", is a member of ASAPS and the chair of the "Symposia" and "Corporate Sponsorship" committees. He has received the "Lockwood Award" given by ASAPS for excellence in "Body Contouring Surgery". He is also a member of the Editorial Board for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.

Secretary: Neal R. Reisman, MD, JD, FACS, of Houston, TX, is Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Reisman has presented or published over 250 presentations and articles on Surgery of the Breast, Ethics, Medico-Legal Issues, Patient Safety, and the Business of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Reisman is a member of and involved in various plastic surgery committees, as well as a member of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He has also been a member of the Emerging Trends Task Force since 2001.
