Recognizing today’s leaders in patient safety.

The Patient Safety Award is a newly added award that recognizes an Aesthetic Society member who has made a meaningful contribution to improving the safety of aesthetic plastic surgery and medicine through research, innovation, process engineering, or operational excellence.

This award is possible thanks to the generosity of Mark Jewell, MD, and Mary Jewell, RPT.

Nomination Process

You may submit a nomination on behalf of another or self-nominate.

To be eligible, nominees must be:

  • An Active or International Active Member of The Aesthetic Society

  • An Associate Member of The Aesthetic Society  

  • A current Endorsed Fellow of The Aesthetic Society

  • Enrolled in The Aesthetic Society’s Resident and Fellows program

Nominees need to have made a meaningful contribution to improve the safety of aesthetic plastic surgery and medicine through research, innovation, process engineering, or operational excellence.

SUBMIT A NOMINATION

Award Review and Selection Process:

  • The jury will review and score each nomination and assess the nominee’s efforts to minimize risk and improve the quality and safety of aesthetic plastic surgery using a scale of 1–5.

  • Nominations earning 25+ points will move to a secret ballot, and a jury will vote on them.

  • The nomination(s) receiving a simple majority (50%+1) receive the Patient Safety Award.

  • The result could be more than one award winner annually.

Award Presentation

We will present the award to the winner(s) at The Aesthetic Meeting during the annual Business Meeting this May. If you are planning to attend, we invite you to join.

2024 is the first year for this award.
